Healing Education & Literature for PTSD is working to become a national nonprofit organization providing at risk children and caregivers with the necessary training to heal mental disabilities caused by childhood trauma, abuse and neglect. Through training, literature and education we can ensure the future of the world is in stable hands.

Over 4 million cases of abuse are reported every year with nearly 600,000 in foster and residential care and almost half coming from extreme neglect or abuse. These children will indeed develop some form of mental illness if not treated properly. If we take the steps to ensure early treatment, they will have the opportunity to become successful, happy citizens instead of mentally disturbed adults, addicts or criminals. It’s our choice.

According to many well known US departments like the Center for Disease Control, the National Institute of Justice and the US Department of Health and Services, one in four children will experience child abuse. Additional studies have shown over 50% of abused children will have some form of mental illness, and over 60% of prison inmates convicted of violent crimes had experienced long term abuse in their youth.

Long term child abuse has been linked to traumatic PTSD that is significant enough to cause traumatic brain injury where parts of the medial prefrontal cortex are damaged and actually shrink in size. This TBI (traumatic brain injury) is the same you see in combat veterans, first responders as well as others in public safety who have repeatedly witnessed traumatic events.

The problem is that those in public safety and combat veterans have care available while the overwhelming number of children in the penal system have limited access to treatments of the same magnitude. Imagine the difference that could be made in these lives if all at risk children had the same treatments available.

Our goal is to do just that. To educate the nation utilizing workshops, literature and seminars to educate every school employee, foster care and residential child care facility in the nation to understand the signs and symptoms of at risk children as well as the treatments to help these future citizens become successful, happy people.

They are are future, without treatment, our future is at stake.
